The AKKOC Family, KANDIRA
What's New

30th August, 2008

30th August Barbecue party is becoming tradition for the family. We hope to meet again in Kandira, Utuk this year.

Our Fall Festival Adventure

The Annual Shelbyville Fall Festival was held at Maple Park last week. The kids spent the day enjoying hay rides and playing in the pumpkin patch. Megan loved getting her face painted and Lauren once again entered her famous apple pie into the charity pie auction. Megan helped her mom in the kitchen this year. Josh was the official "Taste tester". Both the kids were a great help. We ended up baking 5 pies that raised over $100 for the local children's hospital. Megan is looking for any reason to help her mom bake more pies and asks everyday if they can bake more. (She is also a great taste tester!)

Meet Duke

We have a new member of our family. We met Duke at a pet adoption fair that came to our local park. Thekids and Duke got along great from the start. He is full of energy and always seems to be wagging his tail. Duke is always ready to play! We are sure you will find him just as lovable as we do!

Busy at Work

Adam spends most of his days at the bakery. He claims its work, but we all think he really loves the company of the locals who stop by daily for a cup of coffee and world famous blueberry muffins. OK, so maybe just "County famous". But they really are the best. We are planning on opening a second bakery in Shelbyville early next year. Maybe we will see a bit more of him when we do! We are really proud of him. The bakery won readers choice for best muffins in town, two years in a row!

Making Music

Megan has been taking piano lessons for three months and already plays like a little pro. Her first recital will be Saturday, October 12. Her grandparents will be coming in to town to cheer her on. We are so proud of her. Lauren, inspired by Megan's talent at the piano, has picked up her violin once again (After a ten year break!). Although, looks forward to playing every chance she gets, Lauren rarely has a chance. Chasing after two children is a more-than-full-time position! Lauren has done a great job of teaching Megan her numbers and does a great job of keeping our family together!
